Music
Long before I became a storyteller, I was learning the language of rhythm, resonance, and silence.
I was born with melodies and harmonies already pulsing through my heart and soul, in the monochrome northern streets of Salford and Manchester—further back in time than I care to remember—it never really felt like a choice. I was always going to be a musician and composer.
While my career was built on the resonance of the orchestra—as an orchestral tuba player and, in my earlier years, a euphonium soloist—my musical life has also been shaped by many years at the manuals of church organs, as well as time spent in classrooms and craft workshops, where I carved wooden rocking horses, worked leather by hand, and turned exotic-wood pens upon the lathe.
On this website, music and storytelling occupy neighbouring rooms within the same creative house. Music was the first form through which I explored the mysteries of time—its rhythms, echoes, repetitions, and silences. Writing became the second.
My focus now lies in the architecture of time, crafting tales that explore the folds and echoes of the years.
On this page, I have curated a selection of pieces for your entertainment. You will also find specific musical arrangements paired with my narratives in the ‘Stories’ section, where the two halves of my creative life finally meet.
I invite you to listen, to read, and to step into the clockwork of these stories with me, or simply listen to one or more of the pieces of music below that I have written over the years.
I am delighted that UK publisher, Masquerade Music has published my 2 Miniatures for Two Saxophones and Piano. Arrangements for other wind instruments and piano are also available through the publisher.
